Shar's Birthday

Wednesday - May 30 - Biking 49 km

On the way to work I hooked up with Rick right near the beginning. Fast ride in as we traded pulls. After work I rode down to the Elgin Street Diner for Sharon's birthday party. Watched the people outside who were watching the hockey game.

Work and BBQ

Tuesday - May 29 - Biking 45 km

Rode to work, stopping at my landlord's to drop off a cheque and a termination notice. Rode down to Matt and Effie's in the evening for a BBQ. Rode home late.

Monday - May 28 - Biking 37 km

Rode to work. Ran into Al just past Moodie so rode the last 5 km along with him. Stopped to visit my doctor on the way home.

House purchase

Week Ending May 27 - Biking 311 km

Too busy to blog. Spent the week biking all over the city as arrangements were made for buying a house. Deal is done. Now the waiting until July when I take posession.

This week and last I have been over training. Especially this week, I rode over a 100 km farther than my training plan calls for. Thankfully the knee is holding out just fine.

Another sunny ride to work. Rode to the OWA meeting after work in partial cloud. Rode home late at night after a pint at PJs.

Infinite Sunshine

Rode to work on another sunny day. I know it is saving up for snow for the canoe trip next week.

Today was a rest day but I rode down to Ilona's to drink some wine in the evening.

Rode downtown to meet Sharon for breakfast. Rode around town with Rob to collect various foodstuffs for our canoe trip.

Rode around to look at houses for sale. I think I found the right one.

Library Tour

Wednesday - May 2 - Biking 47 km

Another nice day for riding to work. On the way home I stopped at the Carlingwood library to pick up a book. After supper I rode to the main library to attend a presentation by an author of canoe books. It was fairly entertaining. Stopped by the Oak on the way home with Rob for a couple pints as we worked out some details for the canoe trip we are planning.

Hiking in Utah

Last week I went to Las Vegas and met most of my mother's side of the family there for the wedding of my cousin (on a pirate ship!). The clan including all my brothers and their partners went hiking in Utah in Zion National Park up the emerald pools trail. This takes you up the side of the mountain past some waterfalls and various pools. The pool at the top is enclosed by some sheer cliffs that tower hundreds of feet above.

Blood Letting

Tuesday - May 1 - Biking 36 km

Rode to a blood clinic on the way to work to get some tests run. Nice day for a ride.

Extreme crosswind

Monday - Apr 30 - Biking 37 km

Rode to work. Nice sunny day but a 50-60 km/h north wind made the ride somewhat on a sideways slant. Took over an hour to move the 18 or so kilometers to work. Rode home again in some nice sunshine, but with a little less wind.
